SOCNET will be sent to the address you used to send the SUBSCRIBE message, so you should send this message from the email address you want to receive SOCNET. If you send it from someone else's address, they will receive SOCNET and you won't.
The LISTSERV software will add your name and email address to the list, and
send you back a message confirming your membership. If you do not receive a
confirmation message, contact Steve
Borgatti.(you'll have to correct the address before sending)
If you want to change your address with SOCNET, you must first send a SIGNOFF
SOCNETcommand (see the Leaving SOCNET instructions) from your old
address (the one you used to join SOCNET), and then SUBSCRIBE
from your new address.
Once you are subscribed, to send a message to all SOCNET subscribers, just send email to:
You may also want to try out the web interface. It allows web surfers to see
an up-to-the-minute view of the archives/logs of any list whose archives/logs
are "Public" (lists which have "Open" subscriptions typically
have "Public" archives/logs). Click here

If you experience any LISTSERV-related problems, please report them via email

To permanently remove yourself from SOCNET, send a message to listserv@lists.ufl.edu with the following command in the body of the message:
Important notes: 1) Send this message from the email address that is now receiving
SOCNET. 2) This message, like all LISTSERV commands, should be sent
to the LISTSERV (at: listserv@lists.ufl.edu)
and not to socnet@lists.ufl.edu.
If you send it to socnet@lists.ufl.edu, it will not sign you off, but everyone
on SOCNET (more than1,800 people!) will get a message from you that says
Are you getting too many messages from the 1800+ people who use SOCNET? You might want to switch to DIGEST format instead. To do this, send a command of the form
to the LISTSERV (listserv@lists.ufl.edu)
Contact Steve Borgatti. Fix the
address before sending.
